The ISBA-series symposia, first organized in 1968 in Jena, Germany and convened every two or three years in different countries, have been recognized as the premier international conferences in the rapidly growing field of actinomycetes research. The celebratory party recognizing Mike Goodfellow's retirement and David and Joyce Hopwood's 76th birthday will be held as a special event of the Symposium.
